Ride in Style: The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride Returns to NYC in 2025

If you’re into motorcycles, good style, and great causes, you’ll want to mark your calendar for Sunday, May 18, 2025—when the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) rolls back through the streets of New York City. This annual global event brings together thousands of riders dressed in their finest suits and riding classic and vintage-style motorcycles, all to raise awareness and funds for men’s mental health and prostate cancer research.

At MADTranspoNYC, we’re proud to be part of New York’s motorcycle community, supporting riders through towing, transport, and roadside assistance. But events like this remind us why we ride—and who we ride for.

What is the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride?

Started in 2012, the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was inspired by a photo of Don Draper from Mad Men astride a classic bike in a tailored suit. The idea? Combine motorcycling with style and purpose. Today, it’s a worldwide movement with over 90,000 riders in 800 cities raising funds through the Movember Foundation.

NYC’s Take on DGR

In New York City, the DGR is a standout event. Riders cruise past iconic landmarks suited up in tweed, ties, and waistcoats, riding everything from café racers and scramblers to bobbers and vintage Triumphs. The route is kept private and only shared with registered participants to ensure a safe, coordinated ride.

Over the years, NYC’s DGR has wrapped up in scenic spots like South Street Seaport, with music, food trucks, and a strong sense of community.

Why It Matters

This isn’t just about looking good on two wheels. The DGR raises money for the Movember Foundation, supporting critical research and services for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s mental health. In a city like NYC—where the hustle is real and stress runs high—those causes hit close to home.

Whether you’re riding or cheering from the curb, your support helps create change.
